The plant nursery

The council hires space in a large plant nursery in Thirsk. It grows more than 1.2 million plants each year. As well as ordering plants for Darlington, we also take orders from 26 other councils.
The extra funds we make by supplying plants to other councils means the nursery doesn't cost us anything to use. 

Twice a year, if we have extra plants we sell them off to the members of the public in South Park. These sale days happen when planting has finished in late June and again in October.
