Staying safe as you become an adult

Transitional safeguarding between Children’s Services and Adult Services

The law and support systems are different for children's and adult's safeguarding.

Children's Services focus on the protection and wellbeing of children. They address risks such as abuse, neglect and exploitation. Adult Services aim to safeguard vulnerable adults. They also include adults with a disability, mental health or domestic abuse issues.

Transitional safeguarding means children's and adult services work together when young people approach adulthood. Aspects from both services can offer tailored support and protection. This means the change in support can be gradual when becoming an adult.

We aim to create a seamless service and meet people’s needs. This helps our young people in the best way and promotes their independence.
